Overview
Design Thinking Japan LLC (DTJ), Tokyo, Japan, operates AI Atlas (ai-atlas.ai). This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.
What We Collect
Account information
Email address, display name, and a securely hashed password when you register. If you sign in via Google or LinkedIn, we receive only your name and email from those providers — no passwords are stored by DTJ.
Session data
A secure cookie used to keep you authenticated. Cleared when you sign out.
Usage data
Which countries you have viewed, your access tier, and login timestamps. Used to enforce access controls and monitor platform health.
Access applications
If you submit an institutional access request through the platform, we collect your name, organization, role, and stated purpose. This is reviewed by the DTJ team only.
Intelligence reports
On-demand country reports are generated via a third-party AI processing service and associated with your account for retrieval. Report content is not used to train AI models.
Technical data
Standard server and API logs retained by our cloud hosting provider.
How We Use Your Data
- To authenticate your session and enforce role-based access controls
- To generate intelligence reports on your request via a third-party AI service
- To review and process institutional access applications
- To monitor platform health and usage patterns
- We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties
Third-Party Services
We use the following categories of third-party service providers. Each receives only the minimum data necessary to perform its function:
- Cloud hosting provider — platform infrastructure and deployment
- Cloud database provider — stores user accounts, usage data, and intelligence reports
- Third-party AI processing service — generates intelligence reports on demand. Personal data is not sent to this service — only your report request is processed.
- AI research pipeline — multiple AI agents research geopolitical data to produce country assessments. These agents process publicly available geopolitical information, not personal user data.
- Transactional email provider — delivers account verification, password reset, and welcome emails
- Google (OAuth) — optional sign-in method. If you use Google to sign in, Google processes your authentication and shares your name and email with DTJ.
- LinkedIn (OAuth) — optional sign-in method. If you use LinkedIn to sign in, LinkedIn processes your authentication and shares your name and email with DTJ.
We do not use third-party advertising networks, behavioural analytics, or data brokers.
Cookies
AI Atlas uses one authentication cookie — a secure, httpOnly session token cleared on sign-out. No tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies are used.
Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Usage data (country views, login timestamps, access tier) is retained for as long as your account is active and purged upon account deletion. Intelligence reports are generated by AI Atlas and made available to your account for viewing. Reports remain the property of Design Thinking Japan LLC. Access is tied to your account status — if your account is deleted, access to associated reports is removed. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the contact form at designthinkingjapan.com/studio.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by using the contact form at designthinkingjapan.com/studio. Residents of the EU (GDPR) and Japan (APPI) have specific statutory rights — we will honor those requests within 30 days.
